1968 – 1975 S.D. Paich got a teaching job at a small Further Education College, just outside London. He adopted a large space in the basement of the college and used it for teaching classes. It was always open and people came by there outside class hours as well; to sit, play and make something. In 1973, to explain this learning experiment to his students and peers, he expressed it through an imaginary building, a village, a playground of experience. After that by chance he saw an announcement for an international architectural competition in Paris, asking for "new ideas in education in the community." So he drew the building and sent it, winning the French architectural competition.
